Who is Miroku-sama?

Our dream and hope is for a Pure Land to be created on our earth, which will be harmonious, joyful, and free of suffering and disaster. The Buddha who will realize this dream is Miroku-sama. Miroku is a transliteration of Maitreya, which is Sanskrit for “compassion”. He is also known as the Bodhisattva of Compassion. He is the great messiah who will save all people who have not yet been liberated with his boundless compassion and big heart. According to the sutras, Miroku-sama, also called the Future Buddha, will be born as a human in this world 5,670 million years after Buddha Shakyamuni’s time. Until then, he will be a bodhisattva cultivating himself in Tushita Heaven. Since ancient times he has been a well-respected figure and many people have eagerly awaited his coming to this world and wished to be reborn in his time. Miroku-sama has kept a sincere vow throughout many lifetimes to transform the earth into his Pure Land by removing all suffering from this world. This will create a Buddha World where all people are full of joy. Miroku's time has now arrived and his good news is spreading throughout the world.
